Environmental Energy controls was formed in 2005 and has gone from its simple creation to a leading provider of BEMS and Energy solutions. Simply put we're the guys that come into a commercial building that has a controls system within it. Possibly yourself as a building occupant may not be even aware of how your office is able to stay at the same temperature. We ensure that the equipment that controls how hot or cold you are is operating correctly. You may have Air conditioning units, Air that is blown through grills on your ceiling called "fan coil units" or similar. Usually in order for these to keep you comfortable there are electronics ensuring this happens. We program these units with laptops or other devices to ensure everythings works as it should.

There are many other items as well within your building which you may not have even seen such as large boilers and chillers located on the roof and these also keep the building operating to the correct temperatures. We also ensure all of these items operate as they should as without them the building would be far too hot or extremely cold with constant complaints. To the occupant everything just seems to operate with an on/off switch we are the people that allow that on/off switch to do simply that but there is so much more happening behind the closed doors that are restricted to authorised persons only.

The technology that does all this work is highly complex and our engineers with years of experince and training can usually rectify any issues quickly the answer only usually a call away.

Q: What is a BEMS System?

Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS) are comprised of intelligent controllers and other input/output devices, which are networked together to provide comprehensive control and energy management over Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning systems (HVAC), as well as control over lighting schemes, to name jus a few examples.

The input signals are then processed within the intelligent controllers, which then issue appropriate commands to the output devices such as valves, actuators or other output modules, as shown in the example below:

The systems can be installed stand alone or networked together and the information being processed can be viewed through a local display panel or a ‘Supervisor’ which is usually a PC running building management software. This software allows the user to change control parameters as well as perform a wide range of energy analysis and maintenance functions.
